Kaesong or Gaeseong (Korean pronunciation: [kɛ.sʌŋ]) is a city in North Hwanghae Province in the southern part of North Korea, a former Directly Governed City, and the capital of Korea during the Taebong kingdom and subsequent Goryeo dynasty.
