Alghero (Italian: [alˈɡɛːɾo]; Alguerese: L'Alguer [lalˈɣe]; Sardinian: S'Alighèra [saliˈɣɛɾa]; Sassarese: L'Aliera [laˈljɛːɾa]) is a city of about 45,000 inhabitants in the Italian insular province of Sassari in northwestern Sardinia, next to the Mediterranean Sea.
